I’m a full-time Motor Trade Auditor and Technical Consultant, and a part-time PC Doctor. I’ve been passionate about IT for over 30 years, across Microsoft, Apple Mac, Linux and mobile platforms.

PCs, laptops and netbooks

Setup, recovery, repairs and upgrades for desktops, laptops and netbooks, whether the problem is hardware or software. I also service machines and do clean installs of Windows 11, and where possible I’ll move you over to CachyOS Linux.

Broadband and connected devices

Help with ADSL, cable broadband, mesh WiFi and VPN setup, plus advice on which to choose. I also get internet-connected devices online, from TVs and fridges to washing machines… and, once, a hot tub.

Why Linux?

In August 2015 I left Microsoft behind: no more Windows, no more Office. I now run CachyOS, an Arch-based Linux, powered by penguins.

Everything I use, recommend and install is open source, which makes it more secure, more productive and a lot more fun. There’s nothing I used to do in Windows that I can’t do now in Linux.

My only regret is not finding Linux 25 years sooner. You can start using it today.
